GYBS League Rules

Tee Ball – This League is designed for boys and girls ages 4 – 5. This is a co-ed league. It is an introduction into the sport of baseball.

    Teams will consist of approximately 10 players;
    Positions will be introduced, with every player will play the field at all times (no substitution from bench);
    Every player will have one at bat each inning of play;
    Batting with Tee permitted only;
    Season will consist eight (8) weeks;
    Teams will have one scheduled game and one scheduled practice each week;
    Games will consist of three innings max or 1 hour time limit;
    Players are randomly slotted onto teams;
    Practice will begin the first week of May;
    Games will begin the third week of May;
    The Season will finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, and Team bats will be provided; and
    Players will need to have their own glove.

League Fees: $40

League Eligibility: Boys & Girls Age 4 and 5 prior to May 1st, 2019

 

Intermediate – This League is designed for boys and girls in Kindergarten. Boys and Girls will play in separate leagues. It is an extension of our Tee Ball League which continues the introduction of the sport of baseball & softball as well as the introduction of live pitching. Batters are provided three to five live pitches from his own coach, if a hit is not successful, the batter will be able to put the ball into play by utilizing a tee.  Base running will be limited to introduce to offense and defense the ability to be put out.

    Teams will consist of approximately 10 players;
    Positions will be reinforced, however every player will play the field at all times (no substitution from bench);
    Every player will have one at bat each inning of play;
    Coach Pitch Batting(3-5 Pitches max), then with Tee permitted only;
    Season will consist eight (8) weeks;
    Teams will have one scheduled game and one scheduled practice each week;
    Games will consist of either three innings and/or 1 ½ hour time limit, whichever is less;
    Players are randomly slotted onto teams;
    Practice will begin the first week of May;
    Games will begin the third week of May;
    The Season will finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, and Team bats will be provided; and
    Players will need to have their own glove.

League Eligibility: Boys and Girls in Kindergarten during the 2018/2019 school year

 

Instructional – This League is designed for boys and girls in 1st through 2nd grade. Boys and Girls will play in separate leagues. This level of baseball/softball begins to expand the players’ knowledge of the game by introducing live pitching and batting. This is a coach pitch league, with limitations on base running to continue our player development of the sports key essential areas, while not yet focusing on the winning of the game.

    Teams will consist of approximately 10 players;
    Positions will continue to be reinforced, ( substitution from bench introduced);
    Unlimited Substitution Play Allowed;
    Every player will have a minimum of three consecutive outs during defensive play per game;
    Every player will be in batting rotation even if not in defensive lineup;
    Coach Pitch Batting, with maximum seven pitches provided, three strike limit still applies;
    If after seven pitches, batter is out;
    Seven Runs per Inning Maximum;
    Season will consist eight (8) weeks;
    Teams will have one scheduled game and
    Teams will encouraged to have one scheduled practice each week;
    Games will consist of either six innings or 1 ½ hour time limit(boys) 1 ¼ hour time limit(girls);
    Players are randomly slotted onto teams;
    Practice will begin the 3rd week of April;
    Games will begin the 1st week of May;
    The Season will finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, Team Bats and Catchers Equipment will be provided; and
    Players will need to have their own glove

League Eligibility:

Boys Grade 1st during the 2018/2019 School Year (Instructional 1)

Boys Grade 2nd during the 2018/2019 School Year (Instructional 2)

Girls Grade 1st – 2nd during the 2018/2019 School Year

 

Minors – This League is designed for Boys and Girls in grades 3rd & 4th. Boys and Girls will play in separate leagues. This level of baseball/softball begins to introduce the players into a higher level of competitive recreational baseball. This is a player pitch league, with no limitations on base running. Players will be drafted onto a team prior to the season. Players will remain with same team for all subsequent years until no longer eligible for Majors League (Next League Level).

    Teams will consist of approximately 10-12 players;
    Every player will have a minimum of three consecutive outs during defensive play per game;
    Every player will have at least one at bat per game;
    Player Pitch Batting, with traditional ball/strike count awarded (including foul tips);
    Five Runs per Inning Maximum;
    Season will consist of eight (8) weeks (Approximately 12 Game Season);
    Teams will have one or two scheduled games per week
    Teams will be encourage to have one scheduled practice per week
    Games will consist of either six innings or 1 ¾ hour time limit(boys); 1 ¼ hour time limit(girls)
    Players are selected by coaches during draft;
    Players will remain on same team for duration of GYBS Majors Career;
    Practice will begin the 3nd week of April;
    Games will begin the 1st week of May;
    The Season will finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, Team Bats and Catchers Equipment will be provided; and
    Players will need to have their own glove.

League Fees: $50

League Eligibility: Boys and Girls Grade 3rd-4th grade during 2018/2019 school year

 

Majors – This League is designed for Boys and Girls in grades 5th & 6th. Boys and Girls will play in separate leagues. This level of baseball/softball begins to introduce the players into a higher level of competitive recreational baseball. This is a player pitch league, with no limitations on base running. Players will be drafted onto a team prior to the season. Players will remain with same team for all subsequent years until no longer eligible for Majors League.

    Teams will consist of approximately 10-12 players;
    Every player will have a minimum of three consecutive outs during defensive play per game;
    Every player will have at least one at bat per game;
    Player Pitch Batting, with traditional ball/strike count awarded (including foul tips);
    Five runs per Inning Maximum;
    Season will consist of eight (8) weeks (Approximately 12 Game Season);
    Teams will have one or two scheduled games per week
    Teams will be encourage to have one scheduled practice per week
    Games will consist of either six innings or 1 ¾ hour time limit(boys); 1 ¼ hour time limit(girls)
    Players are selected by coaches during draft;
    Players will remain on same team for duration of GYBS Majors Career;
    Practice will begin the 3nd week of April;
    Games will begin the 1st week of May;
    The Season will finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, Team Bats and Catchers Equipment will be provided; and

League Fees: $50

League Eligibility: Boys and Girls Grade 5th-6th grade during 2018/2019 school year

 

Pony - This League is designed for boys and girls grades 7th to 9th. Boys and Girls will play in separate leagues. This level of baseball and softball introduces the players into a highest level of competitive recreational baseball. This is a player pitch league that will require travel to various areas around Geneseo, with no limitations on base running. Players will be drafted onto a team based upon a player evaluation tryout prior to the season. Players will remain with same team for all subsequent years until no longer eligible for Pony League.

    Teams will consist of approximately 10-12 players;
    Every player will have a minimum of three consecutive outs during defensive play per game;
    Every player will have at least one at bat per game;
    Player Pitch Batting, with traditional ball/strike count awarded (including foul tips);
    No runs per Inning Maximum;
    Season will consist of eight (8) weeks (Approximately 12 Game Season);
    Teams will have one or two scheduled games per week
    Teams will be encourage to have one scheduled practice per week
    Games will consist of either six innings or 1 ¾ hour time limit(boys); 1 ¼ hour time limit(girls)
    9th Grades are allowed to pitch only during the 3rd and 4th innings of games
    Travel will be required to various locations in or around Geneseo for games
    Players are selected by coaches during draft;
    Players will remain on same team for duration of GYBS Pony Career;
    Practice will begin the 3nd week of April;
    Games is expected to begin the 1st week of May;
    The Season is expected to finish the last week of June;
    T-shirts, Hats, Team Bats and Catchers Equipment will be provided; and
    Players will need to have their own glove.

League Fees: $60

League Eligibility: Boys Grade 7th - 9th grade during 2018/2019 school year

                           Girls Grade 7th - 9th grade during 2018/2019 school year
